The role of scales in the diagnosis
No scale or questionnaire is used to make the diagnosis of ADHD.
As explained previously one can deduce that it is impossible to create a scale to diagnose ADHD and the absence of other medical or psychiatric disorders. There are many good scales to detect the presence of typical symptoms of ADHD and also indicate the need for a comprehensive psychiatric and medical assessment. Therefore they are called scales or screening questionnaires (detection risk). The scales are also used to see the intensity of ADHD once it has been diagnosed, to continue to follow how the intensity evolves over time and see whether treatments are effective or not.
